How to Compare Crypto Casino Bonuses: The Real-Cost Method

Compare crypto casino bonuses by real cost: wagering base, game weighting, max bet and caps, with the maths on three real offers and a worksheet to copy.

To compare crypto casino bonuses, turn every offer into the same three numbers: the total amount you must wager, what that wagering is expected to cost at the game's house edge, and how much of the result you are allowed to withdraw. The wagering base, game weighting, maximum bet, deadline and cashout cap set those numbers. The headline percentage rarely does.

Bonus types and where their value sits

Crypto casinos use five main bonus formats. They pay out in different ways, so the term you check first depends on the format. The examples below come from the 29 open casinos with full bonus records in RollShark's dataset, as of October 2026. Bonus terms and availability change and often vary by country, so confirm the live version before you deposit.

A deposit match and a cashback offer cannot be compared on their percentages. A 100% match is a one-off grant with conditions attached. A 10% cashback is a recurring refund. The rest of this guide converts both into money, which is the only way to put them side by side. For the full list of current offers, see RollShark's crypto casino bonus listings.

The terms that decide what a bonus is worth

Read these before you look at the percentage. Each one changes either how much you must bet or how much you can take out.

Wagering multiple and wagering base

The multiple (30x, 40x) tells you how many times something must be bet. The base tells you what that something is: the bonus alone, the deposit alone, or the deposit plus the bonus. The base matters as much as the multiple. On a $200 deposit with a 100% match, 30x on deposit plus bonus means $12,000 of bets, while 40x on the bonus alone means $8,000. The offer with the higher multiple asks for less.

Our records show all three bases in use. Shuffle, Thunderpick and TrustDice apply wagering to deposit plus bonus. BitStarz, Metaspins and Wild.io apply 40x to the bonus alone. Betpanda measures it against the deposit, and so do the cash-slice offers at Lucky Block and Instant Casino. When the terms do not say, assume deposit plus bonus until support confirms otherwise in writing.

Game weighting

Most casinos count slot bets at 100% towards wagering and other games at a fraction. BitStarz's bonus terms say table games, live games and instant-win games "typically" count 5%. At 5%, every $1 of required wagering takes $20 of real bets. Some casinos exclude their own provably fair originals from bonus wagering entirely; Thunderpick counts ThunderSpin and ThunderCrash at 0%, and TrustDice excludes its Dice, Crash and Plinko. Shuffle takes a third route and weights each bet by its house edge, so a 1% game counts a quarter. If you mostly play blackjack or dice, a slot-weighted bonus is close to worthless for you.

Maximum bet while wagering

A max-bet rule caps each stake while the bonus is active. Breaking it, including on a bonus-buy feature, can void the bonus and its winnings. BitStarz caps bets at $5 while a bonus is live. That sets a floor on how many bets the bonus takes: $8,000 of wagering at $5 a spin is at least 1,600 spins.

Maximum cashout

A cap limits what you can withdraw from bonus play, however much you win. Wolfbet limits the payout from its 200% bonus to 1.5 times the bonus. TrustDice releases at most 1,000 USDT per welcome stage, whatever the $30,000 stage cap says. A cap does not hurt an average result, but it removes the large wins that make a high-wagering bonus worth attempting at all.

Time limit

The deadline converts total wagering into a daily quota. 1xBit gives 30 days to wager 40x the deposit, so a $100 deposit means $4,000 in 30 days, about $133 of bets a day. Seven-day windows, used by Betpanda, BitStarz, Metaspins, Wild.io and Wolfbet, compress the same work into a week. If the quota is above what you normally bet, the bonus is pushing you to play faster, which is exactly the pattern that raises losses.

Minimum deposit and eligible coins

Check that the coin and network you hold actually qualify. 7Bit Casino takes Ether on ERC-20 only and warns that other networks lose the funds. Jackbit's free spins need a $50 first deposit and the code WELCOME within 24 hours. BC.Game's four stages must be taken in order, from $5 to $30, and fiat minimums depend on your region. Bets.io needs a separate promo code on each welcome stage, so a forgotten code means a lost stage.

Sticky or non-sticky

With a non-sticky bonus, your own deposit is played first and you can withdraw it, plus any winnings from it, by giving up the bonus. With a sticky bonus, the bonus stays in the balance and is removed when you cash out, and your deposit is often locked with it until wagering is complete. Many offers sit in between. BitStarz plays real money before bonus funds, but withdrawing the deposit early cancels the bonus and any bonus winnings. Wolfbet cancels the whole bonus if you withdraw from the main balance while it is active.

A useful benchmark comes from UK consumer law. The Competition and Markets Authority's guidance for gambling firms says customers should be able to leave a promotion at any time with their remaining deposit and any winnings from it. Offshore crypto casinos are not bound by that, but an offer that meets it is easier to walk away from.

The arithmetic: turnover, expected cost and net value

Four formulas cover almost every offer. They give an average, not a forecast; any single session can land far above or below it.

  1. Total turnover = wagering base × wagering multiple.
  2. Real bets needed = total turnover ÷ game weighting (use 1 for slots at 100%, 0.05 for a game counted at 5%).
  3. Expected cost of clearing = real bets needed × house edge. A slot with 96% return to player has a 4% house edge.
  4. Net expected value = the bonus, or the cashout cap if that is lower, minus the expected cost.

Return to player is an average over a very large number of plays, as the UK Gambling Commission's RTP guide explains, so treat the expected cost as the pressure the offer puts on your balance. The formula also simplifies one thing. If your balance hits zero, you stop, so you cannot lose more than you put in.

A quick check follows from formula 4. On a bonus-only base, the bonus breaks even when the multiple equals 1 ÷ house edge. At a 4% edge, that is 25x. On deposit plus bonus with a 100% match, the base is twice the bonus, so break-even halves to 12.5x. Almost every multiple in our dataset is above both figures, so on standard slots most welcome matches have a negative expected value before you place a bet.

Worked example: three welcome offers on a $200 deposit

Here are three real offers from RollShark's records, each run through the formulas. Assumptions: a $200 first deposit (Thunderpick prices its offer in euros, but the arithmetic is the same), a slot that counts 100% towards wagering, and a 4% house edge. The free spins are left out because their value depends on the spin size, which the records do not give.

Total turnover$400 × 40 = $16,000$400 × 35 = $14,000$200 × 40 = $8,000
Expected cost at 4%$16,000 × 0.04 = $640$14,000 × 0.04 = $560$8,000 × 0.04 = $320
Bonus minus expected cost$200 − $640 = −$440$200 − $560 = −$360$200 − $320 = −$120

BitStarz and Thunderpick carry the same 40x, yet Thunderpick asks for twice the betting, because its base includes the deposit. Shuffle's 35x looks lighter than both and still asks for 75% more betting than BitStarz. Shuffle's welcome match is a small part of what it offers, though; it pays rakeback of 5% of the house edge as cash with no wagering.

The negative figures do not mean you will lose exactly that much. They mean that clearing each bonus requires betting volume of 40 to 80 times the $200 deposit, and that this volume costs more on average than the bonus pays. BitStarz adds two practical limits: at its $5 max bet, $8,000 takes at least 1,600 spins, and moving to a live table counted at 5% would raise the real betting to $8,000 ÷ 0.05 = $160,000.

On paper, a game with a 1% edge that counted fully would cut the expected costs to $160, $140 and $80 and turn all three positive. None of these three allows it. Shuffle weights each bet by its house edge, so 1% Dice counts a quarter and the cost stays at $560. BitStarz counts its Originals at 5%, and Thunderpick counts blackjack and live casino at 5% and its ThunderSpin and ThunderCrash at 0%. Confirm a game's weighting before you build a plan around it. The reviews for Thunderpick, Shuffle and BitStarz list the other terms of each offer.

What wagering looks like across RollShark's dataset

To see where a single offer stands, compare it with the market. This table groups the welcome wagering stated or reported for the 29 casinos RollShark researched in depth, as of October 2026. The base is shown where the records state it.

Eighteen casinos have a stated or reported multiple on a welcome match, and 40x is both the most common figure (9 of 18) and the median. Six lead with rakeback, cash rewards or free spins instead: Cloudbet, Duelbits, Gamdom, Jackbit, Rakebit and Stake. The other five publish no usable multiple or no offer at all: BC.Game, DuckDice, Roobet, Winna and Wolfbet. For comparison, operators licensed in Great Britain have been limited to 10x since 19 January 2026 under new Gambling Commission rules. Among the deposit matches here, only FortuneJack's 10x meets that level. Cloudbet's cash package carries no wagering, and Jackbit's spins ask 1x the deposit plus winnings, or 10x under its general rules.

Why rakeback and cashback often win over time

Cashback returns a share of your net losses over a period. Rakeback returns a share of your betting volume, usually calculated from the house edge on each bet. Definitions vary between casinos, and some do not publish the rate at all; Roobet, Gamdom and Winna do not. Both have smaller headline numbers than a deposit match and far fewer conditions.

Take a player who bets $1,000 a week on slots with a 4% edge. Their expected loss is $40 a week. A 10% cashback with no wagering returns about $4 of that each week, roughly $208 over 52 weeks. That is about the same as a 100% match on a $200 deposit, with no turnover target, no locked deposit, no max bet and no deadline. Betpanda credits its 10% weekly cashback every Wednesday with no wagering attached, and Instant Casino makes 10% of weekly net losses available as cash every Monday.

Wagering on cashback is usually light, so the arithmetic barely moves. Bets.io applies 3x to its daily cashback: a $20 cashback at 3x means $60 of bets, which costs about $2.40 on average at a 4% edge. 7Bit Casino is the exception at entry level, with 35x at Level 1 falling to 1x only at Level 12. Rakebit goes further for new players: 100% rakeback on the first $1,000 wagered, which by its own description returns the house edge over that volume. At a 4% edge, that is about $40 returned.

A deposit match can still pay more per dollar for someone who would bet the full turnover anyway, inside the deadline and under the max bet. For most players, a recurring refund that pays close to its printed rate is the better long-term deal. RollShark's cashback and rakeback offers and wager-free bonuses pages list the current ones.

A one-page bonus comparison worksheet

Copy this table into a spreadsheet and fill one column per offer. Every row comes from the bonus terms, not the promotion banner. Use the same deposit and the same game for every column, or the results will not compare.

Then apply three rules. Decline any offer whose daily quota is above what you normally bet. Decline any offer that excludes or heavily discounts the games you actually play. Between two offers that pass, take the higher net expected value, and if both are negative, ask whether you would rather have the cashback programme instead. Skipping the bonus is a legitimate choice. Setting a deposit limit before you start a bonus, from the tools covered on our responsible gambling page, keeps a turnover target from setting your stake for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good wagering requirement for a crypto casino bonus?

Judge the multiple together with its base. At a 4% house edge, a bonus breaks even at 25x on the bonus alone or 12.5x on deposit plus bonus with a 100% match. In RollShark's dataset, 40x is the most common figure, so most offers sit above break-even on standard slots.

Is a 200% bonus better than a 100% bonus?

Only if the terms are the same, and they rarely are. A 200% match doubles the bonus, but with deposit-plus-bonus wagering it also raises the turnover by half on the same deposit. Run both through the worksheet with your real deposit size before choosing.

Do crypto casino bonuses apply to every coin?

Not always. Some offers name specific coins or networks, and some casinos accept a coin on one network only, as 7Bit Casino does with Ether on ERC-20. Check the bonus terms and the cashier before you send funds, because a non-qualifying deposit usually cannot be converted into a bonus afterwards.

Can I withdraw my deposit while a bonus is active?

It depends on whether the bonus is sticky and how the casino handles cancellation. At some casinos you can cancel the bonus and keep your remaining deposit. At others the deposit is locked until wagering is complete, or a withdrawal cancels the bonus and its winnings, as at Wolfbet. Read the cancellation clause before you opt in.

Are no-deposit bonuses worth claiming?

They cost nothing to claim, but they are small and tightly limited. BitStarz's 20 spins for confirming your email carry 40x on winnings, a $100 cap, and a 20 USDT deposit before any winnings can move. Treat them as a way to try a casino, and see our no-deposit bonus listings for current offers.
